"The 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate Tre Vigneti possesses gorgeous juiciness and depth. Rich, round and seamless, it is a gorgeous wine to drink now and over the next decade. Blueberries, blackberries and grilled herbs flesh out on the generous, inviting finish. The 2009 Tre Vigneti is a hugely enjoyable wine, especially for the money. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2019. Montagna is Bob Long's new project on Pritchard Hill, not far from David Arthur, which Bob founded with his brother David. Nile Zacherle, the winemaker at David Arthur, is also in charge at Montagna. These early releases suggest Montagna is another of the rising stars in Napa's hottest neighborhood." (WA)

"This starts out closed and tight, shut down by tannins and immaturity, but plenty of swirling reveals elusive black-licorice and blackberry notes, accented by smoky oak. The tannins really kick in toward the middle, but hard as they are, they exhibit great breed. Despite its sweet core of fruit, this is nowhere close to being ready. Give it 10 years. -S.H. Dark Ruby red color offers aromas of candied cherry, black currant along with spice notes of sage and vanilla. The palate is soft and polished with fine grain tannin, candied plum and cassis. There is a hint of chocolate on the finish. Best from 2012 to 2020.
