2010
Chateau La Fleur Peyrabon
Pauillac

"Opaque ruby/purple with notes of lead pencil shavings, cedar wood, black currants, forest floor and some oak, the wine performs like a classified growth. Full-bodied and rich, with striking purity, texture and a long 30-second finish, this wine should drink nicely for up to 15 or more years. A sensational Pauillac from this overachieving estate, La Fleur Peyrabon's 2010 is a blend of 67% Cabernet Sauvignon and the rest mostly Merlot with some Petit Verdot. A member of the Alliance des Cru Bourgeois du Medoc " (WA)

2010
Chateau Moulin Haut-Laroque
Fronsac

"Tipping the scales at 15% natural alcohol, its notes of crushed rock, blueberry and raspberry fruit as well as darker currants and forest floor are followed by a deep, medium to full-bodied, rich wine with relatively sweet tannin but lots of extract and a long finish. Drink it over the next 10-15 years. An impressive wine once again from proprietors Jean-Noel and Dominique Herve, this Fronsac is a blend of two-thirds Merlot and the rest mostly Cabernet Franc as well as tiny quantities of Cabernet Sauvignon and Malbec." Chateau Rollan de By
Medoc

"Consistently better than its humble appellation, this excellent wine from proprietor Jean Guyon offers up plenty of black currant fruit intermixed with cedar wood, licorice and incense in a medium to full-bodied, surprisingly concentrated and expansive style that should drink nicely for a minimum of a decade or more. There's no need for patience with this sleeper of the vintage, given the sweetness of its tannins, attractive glycerin and fruit levels." (WA)
