NEW RELEASE!!
2010
Chateau La Cardonne
Medoc
"A superb blend of 50% Merlot, 45% Cabernet Sauvignon and the rest Cabernet Franc, the 2010 from this well-known property has performed as well as I've ever tasted. A sleeper of the vintage, this endearing style of wine has copious quantities of ripe black cherry and black currant fruit interwoven with hints of forest floor, licorice and subtle background oak. It is medium to full-bodied, rich, textured and, overall, an enormously seductive style of wine to drink over the next 7-8 years." (WA)

NEW RELEASE!!
2010
Chateau Charmail
Haut-Medoc
"This is a terrific wine from another estate that has a consistent record of excellence for close to two decades. The blend in 2010 is 50% Merlot, 33% Cabernet Sauvignon and the rest mostly Cabernet Franc with just a touch of Petit Verdot. This wine became famous because of its extraordinarily long, pre-fermentation cold soak of over two weeks. This continues under the new administration, and the alcohols achieved in 2010 are at 14.2%. The wine is a big, rich, sleeper of the vintage with loads of blackberry and floral-infused blueberry fruit. Sitting across from Sociando-Mallet, this estate is certainly well-located, resting on well-drained, gravelly soils with some veins of clay running through them. The 2010 is medium to full-bodied, pure, quite fragrant and capable of lasting at least a decade." (WA)

NEW RELEASE!!
2010
Chateau Cote de Baleau
Saint-Emilion
"The wine displays lots of rich berry fruit, some licorice, cedar, underbrush, and incense. It is medium to full-bodied, up-front and forward, and quite drinkable despite the fact that it is less than three years of age. It should drink well for 12-15 years. One of the strongest efforts from proprietor Sophie Fourcade in a number of years, the 2010 is a blend of 70% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc and the rest Cabernet Sauvignon from a 33-acre vineyard that was upgraded in the 2012 new classification of the wines of St.-Emilion." NEW RELEASE!!
2010
Chateau La Vieille Cure
Fronsac
"Always one of the ripest and most hedonistic of the Fronsacs, this wine again delivers the goods. Dense ruby/purple, with loads of black currant and licorice-infused black raspberry fruit, this wine has stunning density, a medium to full-bodied mouthfeel, and impressive purity, texture and length. The high Merlot content always seems to ensure a wine that has accessibility young, but also has the potential to easily last for a decade or more. This is once again a major sleeper of the vintage. A stunningly opulent, even voluptuous style of wine from proprietor Colin Ferenbach (an American, of all things!), this blend of 75% Merlot, 22% Cabernet Franc and the rest Cabernet Sauvignon emerges from 45 acres of hillside vineyards in Fronsac." 2010
Chateau Tour St. Bonnet
Medoc
"A beautiful sleeper of the vintage, this is possibly the best wine I've ever tasted from this over-achieving estate near St.-Christoly-de-Medoc. A blend of 45% Merlot, 45% Cabernet Sauvignon and the rest Petit Verdot, this wine normally sells for about $15 a bottle, making it an absolutely staggering value in the worldwide marketplace. The 2010 exhibits classic cedar wood, tobacco leaf, creme de cassis, licorice and some balsam wood notes in a strong, medium to full-bodied, layered style with good opulence, purity and overall harmony. A real beauty, it should be drunk over the next 4-5 years." (WA)

2010
Chateau Villars
Fronsac
"A terrific wine from proprietor Thierry Gaudrie, this wine, which has a similar blend to the La Vieille Cure (73% Merlot, 18% Cabernet Franc and the rest Cabernet Sauvignon), has an inky purple color and a big, sweet kiss of blueberry liqueur intermixed with creme de cassis, camphor, licorice and a hint of graphite. Full-bodied, rich and unctuously textured, this is a seriously endowed Fronsac to drink over the next 15+ years." (WA)

2010
Chateau Teyssier
Saint-Emilion
"An over-achieving estate for a number of years now, this dense purple wine exhibits oodles of creme de cassis and licorice, hints of subtle barbecue smoke and toast, terrific texture and a long, succulent, fleshy finish. It is not all that dissimilar from the 2009 in terms of its flamboyance and drinkability, although I suspect that analytically the pH is slightly lower and the tannins a bit higher than those of its older sibling. Drink it over the next 10-15 years. From the home estate of Englishman Jonathan Malthus, the 2010 Teyssier is showing better out of bottle than it did out of barrel. This is the biggest production of all the wines from Malthus, hitting nearly 15,000 cases." (WA)
