San Luis Valley Listening Tour Report Has Been Released!
The San Luis Valley Listening Tour took place April 22-24, 2015. The tour provided executive staff from 10 statewide foundations the opportunity to learn more about the challenges and opportunities in Colorado's San Luis Valley region. The delegation met with over 100 community leaders from the five county region which includes Alamosa, Conejos, Costilla, Mineral, Rio Grande and Saguache counties. The delegation was convened by Community Resource Center and the San Luis Valley Rural Philanthropy Days (SLV RPD) Steer Committee in preparation for the September conference in Creede.

The results of the listening tour are shaping the structure of the upcoming RPD conference where we will continue to convene community leaders around key regional issues. The report is available for download here!

Registration for the conference is now open! Mark your calendars and plan to join nonprofit professionals, community and business leaders and foundation representatives for San Luis Valley Rural Philanthropy Days. While the total value of foundation grants to rural areas is substantial, the average real value per person provided by large foundations to organizations based in nonmetro counties from 2005 to 2010 was only about $88 per person-less than half the average provided to organizations in metro counties.
