The theme for 2016 is :"Transformation and Preservation"

Often times in our communities growth and community betterment occur not by new construction or new resources being brought in, but by transforming and/or preserving property and assets already in existence.

Examples of transformation and preservation include:
  • Restoration of our schools, churches and public buildings
  •  Transformation of a structure that no longer serves a purpose into something that benefits the community
  • Volunteer organizations, youth groups and non-profits  continuously restructuring their efforts to better serve their communities
  • Preservation of historic landmarks
MCB communities have showcased examples of transformation and preservation since its conception in 1963 and will continue to do so for years to come.

Watch for more information about the conference in upcoming emails.  Contact Teresa Keller with any questions.

3 Regional Meetings Left

April 20, 2016 - Galena, 9:30am to 1:30pm
 April 26, 2016 - Perry, 1 to 4:30pm
April 27, 2016 - Concordia, 1:30 to 5pm
(For Additional Information Click Here)

View pictures from the Regional Meetings held in Trenton, St. James and Poplar Bluff here.

The speaker at the 2016 Regional Meetings will be discussing volunteerism; both recruiting volunteers and retaining them over time.  It is impossible to have a successful community without volunteers and we all know that they are hard to come by and even harder to keep.  Everyone is busy and those who have served for years often times reach a point of burn out.

For more information and to RSVP, please contact Christa 660-383-1034, or at Christa@MOCommunityBetterment.com.
Community Plans and Assessments

It is required by NAP (Neighborhood Assistance Program) that the Missouri Community Betterment office have a Community Plan or Assessment on file for every community that participates in our organization.  If we do not have one on file for your community at this time, please contact:  Teresa@MOCommunityBetterment.com
Christa@MOCommunityBetterment.com
or mail to:  903 S 3rd St., Clinton, MO 64735.

"Feels Like Home" Tour
Launched in 2014, the "Missouri Feels Like Home" tour has visited about a dozen rural communities throughout the state to assess their strengths and challenges in economic development. With a team of experts in a number of fields including energy, tourism and site selection, the tour provides insight into what each community must do in order to grow and stake a claim in the next-generation economy. Those participating take a bus tour to identify specific development needs in the community, and then hold breakout sessions to discuss various topics encompassing economic development, education and community betterment.

Visit the  MCB Facebook page to see pictures from the MCB/DED visits completed thus far in Anderson, Lamar and St. James, MO.  You can also see media coverage of the Anderson visit here

Two visits remain -- Salem, May 10th and Ava, May 16th.
