Missouri 4-H and MCB joined together for the Youth Civil Leadership Summit, a youth energizer event, on March 4-6 at Windermere Conference Center in Roach, MO.  This was the first year that 4-H and MCB joined together for the event with great success. There were 166 youth ages 14-18 and adult sponsors in attendance.

The theme this year was "Spark", encouraging youth to search and find that special quality, skill or interest that lights them up.
Guest speakers included Kyle Scheele, Sean Siebert and Valerie Bayes.

The youth participated in their choice of recreation to include:  The Edge Challenge Course, Bridal Cave Tour, Open Gym and Line Dancing.

Sessions were held throughout the weekend that inspired teamwork, leadership and thinking outside the box.  Activities included a talent show, poster contest, a mock election and even a fireworks display.

The MCB Youth Advisory Board (YAB) along with MCB staff and board members provided support and assistance during the event.
There was great discussion about increasing MCB attendance next year and everyone left with ideas to share with their communities and fellow youth.

The speaker at the 2016 Regional Meetings will be discussing volunteerism; both recruiting volunteers and retaining them over time.  It is impossible to have a successful community without volunteers and we all know that they are hard to come by and even harder to keep.  Everyone is busy and those who have served for years often times reach a point of burn out.
