Board of Regents name chancellor search committee

LAS VEGAS, Nev. -- Rick Trachok, chairman of the Nevada Board of Regents, today announced the names of the 21-member search committee tasked with finding the next chancellor for the Nevada System of Higher Education. 

""The next chancellor of the Nevada System of Higher Education will play a pivotal role in Nevada's future," said Trachok. "Our state needs an experienced leader who understands higher education and can appreciate Nevada's challenges going forward. Selecting the next leader of Nevada's public higher education system is the committee's sole charge and the single most important mission for the Board of Regents. Accordingly, I selected members who reflect our state's diverse populace of students, alumni, faculty, staff, and community leaders."

Members of the Regents search committee are:

  • Sam Lieberman 
  • Allison Stephens 
  • Mike Wixom 
Advisory members include: 
  • Paul Bible (former Chair, UNR and TMCC Foundations) 
  • Dr. Constance Brooks (Vice Chancellor for Government & Community Affairs, NSHE) 
  • Desiree DeCosta (Chair of the Nevada Student Alliance
  • Ken Evans (President, Urban Chamber of Commerce - Las Vegas) 

  • Tom Gallagher (Trustee, UNLV Foundation) 
  • Peter Guzman (President, Latin Chamber of Commerce) 
  • Steve Hill (Executive Director, Nevada Governor's Office of Economic Development)

The first meeting of the Chancellor Search Committee will be scheduled for the end of September.
