Scholarship Open Raises $110,000+ for Student Success
The Monroe Community College Foundation hosted its 32nd Annual Scholarship Open on June 27 at the famed Oak Hill Country Club. MCC Foundation Director Phil Yawman was joined by Tony Soprano '92 (DiMarco Constructors) to co-chair the event. It was a wonderful day of golf, camaraderie and philanthropy. Phil Yawman's team of Rick Brienzi, Jeff Davis and Tony Tortorella came in as the Low Gross winners with a score of 61. LaBella Associates' team of Ross Ciulla, Sergio Esteban, Mark Gregor and Robert Healy captured the Low Net trophy with a score of 57. Andy Juskiw captured the prize for men's longest drive and Mike Kortan took home the prize for men's closest to the pin, while Mary Beth Rumble was the celebrated winner of both the women's longest drive and closest to the pin. Blake's perspective on the importance of scholarships to MCC students inspired a Scholarship Call that raised just shy of $40,000! The Scholarship Call was led by Don Jeffries '71 (VisitRochester), a member of the MCC Alumni Hall of Fame and MCC Foundation Board of Directors. At the end of the evening, Foundation Board Chair Jeremy Wolk announced the event raised $110,000 (net) for MCC students. |
