Scholars Welcome Robin and Tim Wentworth Back to MCC
|
On Friday, March 13, MCC students met with alumni Robin '80 and Tim '80 Wentworth and their daughter, Elizabeth. The students shared how the Wentworth Family Scholarship made attending MCC possible, as well as their educational and career goals. The students were surprised that the Wentworths remembered so much about their individual stories based on their thank you letters. The visit concluded with vocal and instrumental performances by music students and Wentworth Scholars. Robin and Tim told the students that "This is MCC: Diverse students who are focused and setting goals. You validate why we want to stay involved here. ... Thank you for letting us help you."

Invest in SUNY |
State University of New York (SUNY) institutions, including MCC, are urging New York State legislators to support public higher education and Invest in SUNY. SUNY has set a goal to produce 150,000 graduates each year by 2020 and to increase access, completion and success for all New Yorkers. In response to an executive budget proposal that keeps state funding for community colleges flat and at 2005-2006 levels, SUNY requests an increase of base aid by $250 per full-time equivalent student for three years. In efforts to keep tuition affordable, MCC student leaders participated in the SUNY Speaks Up! rally on March 24 in Albany and met with legislators to share their experiences and why investing in SUNY is an investment in the future of New York.
