2nd Annual CrossFit Community Fundraiser to Benefit Future First Responders |
Rochester area CrossFit locations will hold their second annual fundraiser on December 20 to raise funds for the Lt. Michael J. Chiapperini and Tomasz M. Kaczowka Memorial Scholarship at Monroe Community College. Two $1,000 scholarships are awarded to MCC students each year.
On the morning of December 24, 2012, Mike Chiapperini, 43, a Webster Police Department lieutenant and the department's public information officer, and Tomasz Kaczowka, 19, a Monroe County 911 dispatcher, were volunteering for the West Webster Fire Department. They responded to a structure fire on Lake Road in Webster, N.Y.. As they arrived, they were fired upon by a gunman and died on the scene.
Led by CrossFit Park Avenue, participants in the fundraiser will donate $20 or more before completing a pre-determined 24-minute CrossFit workout routine. Membership is not required to participate.

Xerox Foundation Honored at Salute to Excellence |
Xerox Foundation President Mark Conlin accepts the Salute to Excellence Award
The MCC Foundation was proud to recognize the philanthropy and leadership of the Xerox Foundation at the 25th Annual Salute to Excellence on Thursday, November 13 at the Joseph A. Floreano Rochester Riverside Convention Center. Honorary Chair Mike Zimmer and Committee Chair Essie Calhoun-McDavid hosted a remarkable evening highlighting the importance of STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematic) education in our community.
Four outstanding alumni were inducted into the MCC Alumni Hall of Fame at the celebratory event. Congratulations go to (pictured left to right above) Michael Krupnicki '85, Theresa Bowick '01, Sharon Kelly Sayers '72 and Dana Miller '76.
