Be A Healthy Hero Summer Camp Launched for Rochester Kids |
MCC President Anne Kress, City of Rochester Mayor Lovely Warren and John Urban, president and CEO of Greater Rochester Health Foundation, visit with Be a Healthy Hero campers.
Students from eight Rochester city schools are staying physically and intellectually active at the new Be a Healthy Hero Summer Camp on MCC's Brighton Campus.
The five-week camp helps 325 students, ages 6-13, reduce health and learning declines that sometimes occur over the summer months. The healthy learning experience is made possible by a $597,000 grant from the Greater Rochester Health Department to the MCC Foundation. The camp is a partnership of the Health Foundation, MCC, the MCC Foundation and the City of Rochester.
The partners hope this camp will continue to grow and so even more area children can benefit from this opportunity. Already, an additional 24 students are participating in the camp thanks to a $20,000 contribution from the Glover-Crask Charitable Trust. Please contact us at mccf@monroecc.edu for more information about supporting this meaningful, healthy summer experience for Rochester children.

Alumni Luncheon and Golf Classic Honoring Betty P. Smith '82 |

The MCC Foundation is hosting a special luncheon and golf classic honoring MCC alumna Betty P. Smith. Betty's MCC career spans 28 years - first as an advisor in the Office of Admissions and today as a counselor in the Counseling, International and Veteran Services Department. A member of the Class of 1982, Betty is a member of the MCC Alumni Hall of Fame and Sports Hall of Fame. This special luncheon and golf classic will provide an opportunity for Betty's colleagues, friends and family to celebrate her career and thank her for her long-standing commitment to MCC students by raising funds to support the Betty P. Smith Scholarship for Returning Adult Students.
Our goal is to raise $3,000 in support for returning adult students and to continue the legacy that was started in 2000 by Betty, faculty, staff and friends of MCC when the Betty P. Smith Scholarship for Returning Adult students was established. Since that time 12 returning adult students have received scholarships and untold numbers of students have received guidance and support personally from Betty.
Join Us! Register for lunch, golf or both! Tickets for both the luncheon and golf include a $25 tax-deductible gift. Luncheon only tickets are $40. Golf and lunch tickets are $100. Those unable to participate but wish to make an honorary gift can do so by clicking here.
We hope you will be part of this exciting event on Friday, August 8, at Eagle Vale Golf Club, 4344 Nine Mile Point Road in Fairport beginning at noon in the Stratford Room. Plan to arrive at noon, a hot buffet lunch will be served at 12:30 pm and golfers will tee-off (scramble format) at 2:15 pm.
Make your reservation today. Register online here, email kshaw@monroecc.edu or call the MCC Foundation at or 262-1500. We hope to see you there!
