Greetings!
Get to know two specialists who are making Housing First work here.
HOUSING FIRST

Housing specialists now in residence

The Day Resource Center welcomes two new housing specialists who are opening doors for homeless men and women.

Allison Bowen
Allison Bowen

Despite challenges posed by the sequester and economy, Allison Bowen and Cindy Wright housed 10 people in May alone. Get to know them.

Allison is coordinating group home placements and housing for people living with mental illness and other disabilities. With experience that includes management of a residential facility for just this population, Allison comes well prepared to help guests for whom independent living may not be the best option.

Cindy Wright

Cindy, an Air Force veteran, comes to the Day Resource Center from Texas Reentry Services. She has a gift for working with landlords to house low-income clients without rent subsidies. Like Allison, Cindy works hard to connect people with services they'll need to maintain housing.

Together these two stars are making Housing First a reality for guests of the Day Resource Center. Be sure to meet them on your next visit.

BEAT THE HEAT

Swelter shelter

Shelters like ours protect life and health every day but are lifesavers in summer. Help us beat the heat. Give to the Day Resource Center, and then explore ways you can invest yourself as a volunteer or supporter of programs like Room in the Inn and Cypress St. Cafe.

OUR MISSION
Our mission is simple: to provide centralized resources for transitioning people out of homelessness.
