GIVING THANKS
November 2012
Greetings!
Let's give thanks for holiday homecomings, parties with purpose and sweet deals that do good for the Day Resource Center.
HOUSED FOR THE HOLIDAY

Benny J.'s story

Benny came to the Day Resource Center homeless and heartsick almost two years ago after losing his wife. He found a staunch advocate in Case Manager Patrice Odle, and together they worked out a plan to put a roof back over Benny's head. Thanks to Patrice, Benny will spend this Thanksgiving in an apartment of his own. Thanks to you, there can more stories like Benny's in the year to come. Make a difference that can last a lifetime. STIR CRAZY FOR CAKES

A sweet deal for the DRC

We're nuts about Stir Crazy Baked Goods and delighted that it chose the Day Resource Center as its Community Cake partner for Nov. 15-Dec. 15. The Community Cake program dedicates 10% of proceeds from sales of a featured cake or cupcakes to a great cause like ours. Buy Domino cakes or cupcakes-they're a mouthwatering combination of chocolate chips, buttercream and ganache-Nov. 15-Dec. 15, and you'll help the Day Resource Center with every bite. Join us for the kick-off of our Community Cake drive from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 15 at Stir Crazy Baked Goods, 106 E. Daggett Ave. in Fort Worth, and get to know this fabulous, family-owned bakery with a taste for community service.

GOOD GIFTS
Christmas party gifts for guests
Give a gift of warmth and cheer to guests at the Day Resource Center holiday celebration from 9 a.m. to noon Christmas Eve. Drawstring bags like the one at right are practical alternatives to gift stockings. Give the bags, and then help us stuff them with warm socks, gloves, Kleenex, or men's underwear sizes L-3X and women's underwear sizes 7 to 12. Your handwritten holiday messages to guests are most welcome. Please ask Santa to deliver gifts to the Day Resource Center, attn: Jessica Grace, by Dec. 11.
CLEAN FUN
"Throw in the Towel" & more

Want to help the Day Resource Center in a special way? Take a cue from former Fort Worth City Councilwoman Becky Haskin, who's throwing a "Throw in the Towel" party to collect new and gently used towels for the Day Resource Center. Host a "Shower Squared" (that's a shower for our showers) and collect gifts of shampoo, conditioner, bath soap and other personal care goods. Organize youth to "Paper the Day Resource Center" with donations of toilet paper and paper towels. There are a million ways to help and have fun doing it. Visit us on Facebook and tell us: what will you do for the Day Resource Center?

BREAKFAST WITH THE MAYOR
Solve a $30 million problem
If you could cut the cost of a $30 million problem by investing $2,500 or less, would you do it? Well, you can make a down payment on solutions that cut human and hard costs of homelessness, estimated at $30 million annually, with a table sponsorship at Breakfast with the Mayor benefitting the Day Resource Center, 7:30 to 9 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 10, 2013 at First Presbyterian Church of Fort Worth. Contact Suzy Rhodes at 817-992-7123 for a pacesetter's table sponsorship of $2,500, or choose another sponsorship level. Join Fort Worth Mayor Betsy Price, Honorary Chair J.R. Labbe, special guest David Finfrock and Premier Sponsors Jim and Charlotte Finley Jan. 10 for Breakfast with the Mayor.
OUR MISSION
Our mission is simple: to provide centralized resources for transitioning people out of homelessness.
