Achilles International- Philadelphia Chapter

Chicago road trip was a success!

Our 30+ athletes and guides who were able to participate in the Soldier Field 10-Miler had a blast and REPRESENTED Philly Achilles in the Windy City!

The weather could not have been more perfect; not a cloud in the sky all weekend. As runners, we like to eat... A LOT, so we didn't skimp on our food choices one bit. From the famous Chicago deep-dish pizza to the banana cream pie to caramel corn to hot dogs and cheese fries (anyone want to own up to that??), there was no going hungry on this trip.

As for the race itself... well, it was amazing. A big 'thank you' goes out to all the event coordinators who made it possible for us to start in front of the elites. What a cool experience! The course was absolutely beautiful and finishing on the 50-yard line was something we will never forget. All of our athletes dug deep, overcame challenges, and emerged from that stadium tunnel with fierce pride from the overwhelming support of their volunteer, guides, and cheering section. Congrats to all who logged personal bests and thanks to the Chicago Chapter for "loaning" us a few of their guides for the day!

And to finish the weekend on a high note and leave our mark in Chi-town, we made an impromptu trip to a karaoke bar... let's just say, some of us could use some singing lessons;)

Thank you to all the athletes, guides and volunteers who made this trip all that it was. We can't wait to see your shining faces this Saturday at 9am!
