 Kelso Kaleidoscope

News from Principal Schweitzer

Hi everyone and happy December! Our theme for this month is Generosity, as we look for ways to recognize how we help and give to those in need here at Kelso.  Also, please remember
there is no school December 23-January 3.

We do have our giving tree up in our lobby.  These gifts go to families in our school community that need some assistance this holiday season and gifts are due by the 18th - unwrapped. Also, don't forget our canned food drive now through the 13th.  We will also donate any lost and found left after Tuesday, December 17th.  Please come take a look before it goes.

Don't forget our Music Program, Tuesday the 17th at 10:00 AM.  Please make sure you check in and plan on staying about an hour.  Mr. Smith and our students have been working hard, it should be great!

Please join us for Saturday with Santa this Saturday the 14th.  We will do the drawing for the $1000 Amazon card that afternoon, tickets are still available for $5 in the office.

Thank you!

Teacher Feature
Hello from Mrs. Johnson's class! Our class has been learning a lot about our state of Oregon.  We live in the world, on the continent of North America, and are a part of the United States.  We learned when Oregon became a state and many other interesting facts.  After we learned a little bit about Oregon, our reading groups worked on a project.  First, our reading groups worked as teams to read about a specific state animal or plant.  We read about the beaver, Chinook salmon, Swallowtail butterfly, Douglas fir, Oregon grape, and the Western meadowlark.  Each group read a mini book, learned new vocabulary words, and found interesting facts about their topic.  Then, they created a poster with facts and pictures.  Last, they presented their posters to the class.  Now everyone in the class knows a little bit more about some fascinating things about our state.
