PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
Parents and Community,
It is my pleasure to introduce you to Norma Andres, part of our Math Intervention team financed by the Cougar Ed Foundation (See her message below). Norma wanted to share some important information with you regarding our new math curriculum.
Regards, Joe Romagna Principal
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Dear JB Families,
As you may know, this year our school district has adopted the Eureka Math curriculum, which is published by Great Minds. To help facilitate this change, the district has created a list of online resources that families can use for added math support in the home. Whether you and your student are looking to get a clearer understanding of daily lessons for homework help, wanting to brush-up on basics, or looking for a challenge - there are a suite of sites bookmarked HERE.
Here's what's available for every grade level:
* Homework help videos directly tied to your student's math lessons * Tips for parents * Games for reteaching and accelerated learning
If you find these helpful, you can bookmark this Symbaloo site, which will be updated regularly by the district. Please reach out to your student's teacher if you have any questions.
Sincerely, Norma Andres Math Intervention

Lemonade STAND for Rett Sept 16th - 23rd
Get behind our Baldwin connection to this cause!
Collect your coins/dollars, turn in to classrooms Fri. Sept 23rd
(GLAD zipper bags will come home Fri., Sept 16th)
The Lemonade STAND for Rett is a fundraiser for a Cure that supports Rett syndrome research which affects Katie (14) who is big sister to our 2 Baldwin students Melissa (5th - Budge) and Abby (3rd - McCaul). In thanks, we'll end the drive with a free after school Lemonade for every student on Friday Sept 23rd . The grade raising the most will earn a visit with our family during Abilities Awareness Week to learn more and ask questions!
Last year, Katie had a major surgery during this time. So many students wrote her "Get Well Soon" or "You Can Do It!" colorful, cheerful cards which raised her spirits and helped tremendously with her 3-month recovery!
Visit www.rettsyndrome.org/StandforRett to read our story and make an online donation which will count towards the grade-level competition if you leave me a Comment with your child's grade(s)
Download this " Just Like Me" informational coloring book to learn more as a family.
Idea: Students can hold their own Lemonade Stands and Bake Sales to earn their coins/dollars - this helps raise even more community awareness! Let us know if you do this and we'll stop by in support!
Volunteers needed 9/16 and 9/23 - SignUp Genius coming

RUN FOR EDUCATION - OCTOBER 16TH
The JB Run For Education campaign is now well underway! This week, your child will come home with a flyer with all the details you need to register for the event. Please remember - whether you walk, run, "virtual run" or volunteer, IT ALL COUNTS! Every single participant will count towards our school total - our target is to raise $3,000 for new PE equipment for the school. Keep an eye on the Run-O-Meter at the main gate to see how we're doing. Let's get that mercury rising! As an added incentive to sign up, we'll hold a weekly raffle for 10 FREE BASKIN-ROBBINS ICE CREAM CONES. All new entries that week go into the raffle, with 10 new winners announced by Mr. Romagna every Friday! Don't miss out - the only way to be in with a chance of winning is registering for the run! Fifth graders can also sign up for the 5TH GRADE WALK TEAM (though they can of course run it!). Thanks to sponsor Toll Brothers, they will get a special 5th Grade Walk Team t-shirt in addition to the race shirt, and the school with the most 5th graders registered will receive a PIZZA PARTY for all the students in 5th grade! How's that for an incentive?! If you have any questions or you want to help promote the event at our school, please email Heini Tallent. Register to run, walk or support John Baldwin HERE. Volunteer for the Run for Education HERE. Thank you!

A Note About Our Email Distribution List...
The email list that this newsletter sends to was updated recently to include all parent emails that agreed to release their information for school communications in the Annual Update as well as all site staff. Everyone in this update was also added to the distribution list for the San Ramon Valley Council of PTAs. If at any time, you would like to change the lists you receive communications from or the email address they are sent to, please use the Update Profile link that is in the footer of any the emails we send you. This link is unique to YOUR email address. If you wish to leave one list but not another, use the Update Profile link to make the change because the unsubscribe link removes you from ALL lists and requires more effort on your part to fix.
