Access to affordable health care for her four-year old Joey brought his mom Karen to Bayside. Her little son had a worrisome growth on his neck and on her slim income, it was impossible for Karen to cover the costs. With limited English language literacy, Karen did her best when applying for insurance on her own. She had difficulty understanding some of the requirements and errors in the paperwork delayed the application's approval. At Bayside she got the help she needed. The bi-lingual staff contacted the insurance company and learned what documentation was missing and what was required to complete an accurate application. The necessary documentation was faxed in and the staff followed up to be sure the application was received and approved. Within a few short weeks, Joey was approved for surgery. Bayside helped streamline an intimidating process for Karen, and as a result her little guy is a healthy, happy boy.
Please consider donating during our 12 days of giving now through December 20, 2013 to support a family like Karen's.
We've simplified the donation procedure, allowing supporters to donate on line through our new FirstGiving page.
