Greetings!
We are so excited about the direction of the JFHML! We have an incredible crew of staff, volunteers, Friends, Library Board members and our community at large...we are embracing new technologies and seeking out new partnerships. The end result is a WIN WIN for all! For 35 years, the Jessie F. Hallett Memorial Library has strived to provide the latest in technology, materials and programming to all we serve.
With the support of the Hallett Trust, the City of Crosby and ALL of our surrounding cities and townships, we will be tackling our funding goal for 2013 of $35,000. We have seen our partnership with the Initiative Foundation, The Otto Bremer Foundation, the JFHML Friends Foundation and CRMC bring opportunities in technolgy (e-books & ipads) and programs. Just recently the Friends were awarded a $10,000 TOP (Thriving Organizations Partnership) Financial Resiliency & Social Enterprise grant from the Initiative Foundation---which is a fancy way of saying we are going to explore the possibilities of an expansion of our Backstreet Bookstore, and the introduction of a coffee shop & wifi cafe in 2014. The end goal is SUSTAINABILITY... finding ways to fund and support your public library. We have learned the POWER of working together!
We will continue to promote our "ACCESS4ALL" Literacy & Technology grant from the Otto Bremer Foundation with MORE ebook purchases (we hope to have 1500 titles by summer's end) and our partnership with CRMC and our schools. We will launch our ipad program during February's "LOVE YOUR LIBRARY" promotions. We will seek out new Friends for our JFHML Friends Foundation by meeting with local business in our Cuyuna Lakes community. And we will be partnering with the C-I Courier by offering our local newspaper ON LINE.
If you have an electronic reader and you are not quite sure how to navigate the digital book world, bring your device (ipad, Nook, Kindle, etc.) in and our Whiz Kid Student Worker, Abby Smith, will get you set up and ready to read from our collection of e-books. Abby is available on Mondays 4-6 and Tuesdays 4-8.
We have learned that by working together, clearly communicating our funding needs and marketing all that we have to offer, the end result is ownership by each individual to their Library...a place where families meet, technology is accessible and connections are being made with activities, programming and Volunteer opportunities.
We Cater to the Curious!
Sincerely, Peggi Beseres Jessie F. Hallett Memorial Library
