"Groundbreaking:" The act or ceremony of breaking ground to begin a construction project. That is exactly what happened August 2, 2015!
Boys Hope Girls Hope along with over 100 friends, supporters, board members, new neighbors, scholars and dignitaries from Richmond Heights gathered to put shovels in the ground, marking the official beginning of construction for the Boys Hope Girls Hope of St. Louis Hope Builds Project.
Hope Builds is the result of over 8 years of patience and persistence. Nine months ago, Boys Hope Girls Hope launched a $4.5 million fund-raising goal to create a campus-like setting in a centrally-located neighborhood. This project will bring together higher capacity residential homes, a learning center, and an on-site support team. Through the generous support of so many--through the sacrifice of time, financial commitment, and strategic planning--we are getting closer to our goal, allowing construction to begin!
Although he was unable to attend the ceremony, Fr. Paul Sheridan, founding father of Boys Hope Girls Hope, said of the project: "...as we look into the future, we know those who will reside in these wonderful residences will do great things in their lives to bring about hope and joy to their families, community and to others in need. We also know that these lives will be transformed because of the long dedication of those who generously mentor and guide them in the critical years of development."
Boys Hope Girls Hope would like to thank our Campaign Chairs Joe Castellano, Lisa Flavin and Joe Jedlicka for their help in making this vision a reality. We look forward to having you join us upon the successful completion of the Hope Builds project--cutting the ribbon together with you in the spring of 2016.
