June Happenings

A Day on the Green

This past Monday our scholars took a day off of their busy summer camp and work schedules to help welcome over 150 golfers to our Annual BHGH Golf Tournament held at Whitmoor Country Club. Scholars spent the day driving refreshment carts, taking pictures, helping with the dinner auction, and practicing being excellent hosts. Towards the end of the day everyone present was treated to a powerful account from Detroit Board Member and BHGH Alumni, Travis Michael, of what Boys Hope Girls Hope has meant in his life. Thank you to all of the volunteers, staff, scholars and golfers who helped make the day a Hole In One success!

If you missed out this year, mark your calendar for June 22nd, 2015!
Mentor Mixer

Our volunteer mentors and residential staff have been busy as well, laying plans for the coming year. Last week the mentors and staff from both houses gathered to collaborate on how best to continue supporting scholars as a unified team. Highlights included matching new mentoring pairs, brainstorming summer enrichment activities, dialoguing about scholar development goals, and beginning preparations for training next school-year's incoming mentors. It was a great opportunity to reflect on the impact made this and our collective hopes for the future.
