Greetings!
Dear West Mercer families,
We're only a few weeks into the school year, but already summer seems far behind as we meet new teachers and classmates, reconnect with old friends and the cool autumn breezes replace that hot summer sun.
This week's Wolf is packed with fun social events, great after school programs and important information about upcoming elections and legislative issues. Please don't forget that tomorrow is the first Principal's Coffee, the last day to order Wolf Wear, and the final submission date for all Parent Packs!
Sincerely,
West Mercer PTA

Volunteer Training Session Monday, September 28nd at 7:00 pm in the library
About 12 years ago, a group of parents formed the West Mercer Art Enrichment Program to ensure that every child is exposed to the visual arts. Thanks to many dedicated parent volunteers, the program is still thriving.
If you are not artistic and/or have no art background, please don't let it stop you from participating. Volunteers are helpful in lots of ways: distributing supplies, keeping paint dishes full, encouraging kids to add a detail here or there, and hanging up the finished product for display. It's also a great way to get to know the other students and parents in the class. The time commitment can be as little as an hour or two per month.
If you would like to volunteer or have additional questions, please contact Alice Finch. Your support truly benefits our children.

Dear Parents and Guardians:
During a child's elementary school years, important development is taking place intellectually, physically, socially and emotionally. At West Mercer, we recognize that a child might get discouraged in any one of these areas. To help navigate these issues, a school counselor from Mercer Island Youth and Family Services is available to provide services again this year.
We provide age-appropriate classroom activities and discussions about relationships, decision-making and problem-solving, and other issues related to physical and emotional health including teaching students our conflict management program called Kelso's Choice. Here is a helpful website: kelsoschoice.com/community/parent-page
Please read the attached letter from Jennifer Johnson for more detailed information.
