Why Do We Need Bridge 2015?
You may be surprised to learn that Mercer Island ranks 282nd out of 295 Washington school districts in the amount of state and federal funding it receives. Nonetheless, our district continues to be a too performer in Washington State and across the country. You donation to Bridge 2015 enables our school district to rise above the budget shortfalls from the state and federal government and maintain its excellence in educations.
Your gift will ensure that Mercer Island Schools Foundation, in partnership with the PTAs, reaches the Bridge 2015 goal of $1.2 million. The suggested donation is $500/student. Every gift matters and any amount is appreciated. Donations will be accepted at the Bridge 2015 PJs & Pancakes, May 8th 7:30- 9:00 am at Island Park and online @ www.misf.com/donate. PTA SCIENCE FUN NIGHT!
Tuesday, May 5, 6-8pm at Island Park
Here are a few reminders for those who have signed up to participate:
- Pre-registration is necessary and students will be grouped in teams prior to the event. Due to the nature of the event, we will not be able to accommodate walk-ins the evening of the event.
- This is a drop-off event. Each group of 4 students will be paired with a Parent Facilitator to guide them through the science activities.
- If your child would like to be paired with a classmate or friend in their grade level and you have not already indicated the request on your registration, please send a request via email to mcodyritter@yahoo.com and include your child's name, grade and the names of the other students your child would like to be on a team with. Requests must be received by Thursday, April 30th. Due to the nature of the event we will NOT be able to switch team members at check-in the day of the event. We cannot guarantee all requests, but will do our best.
- No preparation is required for this event. Just plan to arrive ready for some hands-on science fun!
- Thank you to all of the parents who have already volunteered to help at the event! We are looking for a few more volunteers to serve as Parent Facilitators for the student teams. This is a great opportunity to experience the excitement of learning with your child. If you would like to volunteer, please email mcodyritter@yahoo.com

6th Grade IMS School Supplies
Unlike the elementary schools, Islander Middle School does not offer a school supply package service that provides your student with all of the year's supplies.
However, HelpEduc8, local, charitable business, offers the same service. HelpEduc8 sells pre-made packages of school supplies to families of Mercer Island middle school students. Each package is custom-made in consultation with IMS teachers to contain all the supplies a 6th grader will need at Islander Middle School for the entire year, at a lower price than one would pay buying all supplies separately at local stores. All net profits are donated to Save the Children, a charity dedicated to providing education and hope to millions of children worldwide affected by conflict.
Please contact us at helpeduc8.llc@gmail.com to be added to our email list and notified when packages are available to order for the 2015-2016 school year, or if you have any questions you may have about our services.
Thanks!
