Island Park Families,

As we close out the end of this school year, I've been reflecting on how much has been accomplished at Island Park this year for our children and our families by our amazing parent and staff volunteer community.

Thank you so much for everyone who organized and helped with the fabulous events that have taken place this year, such as the Opening Day Coffee, Steps for School, International Night, Bingo Night, Movie Night, Hoe Down, Science Fair, Island Book Brunch, Hand in Hand Auction, and many other events.  And thank you so much to all of you who have come to the school to help our wonderful Island Park staff, including our regular volunteers for Library, Art Docent, Garden Docent, Absentee Alert, Copy Corps, Reading Volunteers, Newsletter, Yearbook, Room Parents, and others. For everyone who volunteered this year -- your time and energy is greatly appreciated and has made a big difference for our children and the school.

Finally, I'd like to thank the PTA Executive Committee for all their help managing fundraising, budgets, communications, grants, events, and going out of their way to make sure all of our PTA programs run smoothly throughout the year.   Thank you so much to Ayesha Shaikh, Beth Dudycha, Enas Muzio,  Jennifer Selby, Jenny Harrinton, Jenny McPherson, Julene Levin, Kimberly Orndorff , Liz Kenney, and Sarah Vaux.

Have a wonderful summer!

Be part of a great team! Seeking Parent Edge Representative

Join a team of representatives from Mercer Island schools working together to generate parent education opportunities for the MI community!  The Parent Edge Committee meets monthly to share speaker ideas and follow through with marketing and event management.  Responsibilities of the position include representing your school and administration's interests for Parent Edge events, promoting the events within your school and assisting at events.  If you are interested in parent education, have strong communication skills, and an ability to work with a dynamic group of people, you will find this a challenging and rewarding experience.  We have an exciting line-up of speakers for the 2014-2015 year and would love you to be part of this committee.  If interested, please contact Jaymi Garvett.

A HUGE thank you to all of the judges who took time out of their busy schedules to make such a special night a success.

5th Grade Musical

Thank you, thank you, thank you to the countless parents, students (and siblings!) that helped with the 5th grade production of "The Trial of the Big, Bad Wolf"!  Susan Hamp (Director) and Andy Hamp (Asst. Finally, many others answered the call and helped to make this year's production one of the best yet! Thank you to: Rubina Arif, James & Jocelyn Barber, Sandra Barvaux, Preeti Bendele, Diana Buist, Ruth Gelsey, Galit Gilad-Talby, Stella Hermelee, Kendra Hubbell, Missy Johnson, Rene Lee, Julene Levine, Denise Simoneaux Molina, Robin Moore, KT Naughton, Catheryne Nguyen, Sandee Okamura, Clotilde & Yves Pitsch, Ann Ralston, Jeanne Schreuder, Guenola Shenk, Kristen Spahia, Sandra Sumner, Jenn Taylor, Gloria Tucker, Jenna Umbehocker, and Edna Yabes! And let's not forget our humble staff: Nate Krahn, Cornelius Williams, Thach Nguyen, Heidi Arvish, Angela McCann, Stephanie John-Lewis, Kerida Millison, Shelley Wangen, Christy Kenyon, Charlene Pimental, Jane Dieckman, Kristin Britnall and Crystal Taitague!  We could not have done it without each and every one of you!

IMS 6th Grade School Supplies School supplies2
Helping Education Here and Globally

Attention all 5th Grade Parents!

Unlike the elementary schools, Islander Middle School does not offer a school supply package service that provides your student with all of the year's supplies.  However, HelpEduc8, local, charitable business, offers the same service. HelpEduc8 sells pre-made packages of school supplies to families of Mercer Island middle school students.  Each package is custom-made in consultation with IMS teachers to contain all the supplies a 6th grader will need at Islander Middle School for the entire year, at a lower price than one would pay buying all supplies separately at local stores.  HelpEduc8 saves you time and money, and ensures that your student will have all of the necessary supplies to have a successful school year. All net profits are donated to Save the Children, a charity dedicated to providing education and hope to millions of children worldwide affected by conflict.

Contact us at helpeduc8.llc@gmail.com to be added to our email list and notified when packages are available to order for the 2014-2015 school year or for any questions you may have.  Ordering should open at the end of June.

Thanks! Lindsey Reitinger, Evelyn Davis, and Amanda WallHelpEduc8, LLC
