Mercer Island Library Remodel Delayed
Community Involvement Encouraged

graphic-bookstore-people.jpg

At the KCLS Board meeting Wednesday, January 29, the Board was urged to delay the remodeling of the Mercer Island Library for no more than 90 days.

The time will be used to allow for the city to design and carry out a process of community involvement that better expresses the community's perspective regarding the design. Principal among the concerns expressed by citizens was the absence of a suitable substitute facility and a need for the changes.

A motion was made and passed by the Board that provides for a period of public engagement. We will keep you up-to-date through the schools' PTA organizations, as meetings are scheduled and plans for community involvement develop. In the meantime, please visit www.libraryremodel.org, for more information.
