PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
Dear Island Park Families

Welcome back to school.

I hope you are enjoying a wonderful summer. I also hope you are relaxed, recharged and ready to start a new school year. I am so delighted that you are part of our amazing learning community. I welcome and value your positive energy and dedication to excellence in education, and I look forward to working with you and your children.

All signs point to another incredible and productive school year. Our skilled and devoted staff is already planning and preparing for your child(ren). Our enthusiastic office team is registering new families, ordering needed materials and updating student files. Our hard working and conscientious custodians have spent the entire summer thoroughly cleaning the facility. And, our much-appreciated PTA is gearing up to welcome families, provide

volunteer opportunities, and offer other exciting events and programs. We are indeed a joyous and caring community with the common goals of nurturing responsible, caring students and promoting high-level learning. Continue Reading or visit www.islandparkpta.org

Deliver your kids to their new teachers, and then head on over to Island Park's Opening Day Coffee in the Island Park Multi-Purpose Room!  Sample a few home made treats (for parents and young siblings alike), meet and reconnect with other parents, and hear from our principal, David Hoffman!

Superintendent's Message
Welcome Back to School - Dr Gary Plano

I can sense fall in the air as we ready our schools and classrooms for the arrival of our students on Tuesday, September 3rd. I hope this message reaches you feeling relaxed and excited about the start of the new school year.

I am happy to welcome three new administrators to our amazing management team. Andy LaBadie is Lakeridge's new Principal, following the reassignment of Fred Rundle who now works in the Learning and Technology Services area. Andy comes to Mercer Island from Ohio, where he was an elementary principal and also served as a director of curriculum. Aimee Batliner-Gillette is our new elementary associate principal. Aimee will be working at all three schools and supporting all three elementary Principals. Aimee comes to us from the Tukwila School District. Lindsay Myatich returns to the district in a new capacity as the Assistant Director of Learning Services in Special Education. Lindsay worked at Lakeridge a few years back as a special education teacher in the autism spectrum program. I am fortunate to have three amazing new leaders join our team!
