Did You Know

Did you know that no scale weighment is ever perfect? Readability, repeatability, non-linearity, corner load deviations, and environmental effects all add up to create a measuring error called Measurement Uncertainty (U). The percentage of error can be determined at calibration using the below formula.

  Weigh Uncertainty Formula

Knowing the Measurement Uncertainty can help you determine what capacity scale is right for your environment when paired with your manufacturing tolerance.

Learn more about Measurement Uncertainty and scale selection as they relate to METTLER TOLEDO's GWP Verification for scales.

Controlling Maintenance Cost
with PDX Technology

This past summer a large fruit processing plant in Western New York needed to replace one of its two truck scales.  The old scale was constantly in need of repair, and annual service cost were out of control.  The customer was looking for a scale systems solution that would 1. provide  more control over its maintenance budget and 2. reduce scale downtime.

This business contacted several local scale companies, including Brady Systems, for proposals. We provided it with a proposal for the METTLER TOLEDO VTS231 steel deck truck scale with PDX load cell technology. In the end, this fruit processing plant chose the METTLER TOLEDO scale for several reasons.  The proven reliability of the PDX load cells, with predictive diagnostics, and elimination of junction boxes, removed the two major sources of unplanned downtime. The 5 year all inclusive warranty, covering all parts, labor, and travel, means that they eliminated unplanned emergency repair cost.  This company now has both state of art in load cell technology and control of its maintenance budget. It looks forward to many years of reliable service.
