Portico Open Enrollment - deadline Nov. 21

If any of your employee benefit insurances are covered by Portico Benefit Services, you have until Friday, Nov. 21 to make your open enrollment elections in order to have all Portico benefits for next year. If you have yet to do so, please act now/today by visiting MyPortico as per the information in your enrollment packets. This is required; your choices from 2014 will not carry over. Russian Voices: The St. Petersburg Men's Ensemble

The Bethesda Music Series is thrilled to welcome back the St. Petersburg Men's Ensemble, an internationally touring quartet from Russia. They will appear at Bethesda Lutheran Church, 450 Whitney Avenue, New Haven, on Sunday, November 30, at 4pm. A capacity audience was ecstatic with the sonorous voices and great charm of the group when they visited a year ago. This year's program will include sacred vocal works from the Russian tradition, as well as Russian folk songs. Audio clips and further details can be found by clicking here.

 

The event is free and open to the public. A free-will offering will be collected with all proceeds going to Immanuel Baptist Shelter, an organization dedicated to outreach to the homeless in New Haven. Donations will be partially matched by Thrivent Financial. A reception will follow the concert.
German Advent Service
Sunday, Dec. 7, 2 p.m.
Good Shepherd Lutheran Church

This traditional German Advent Service will be led by Rev. Matthew Tingler, Pastor of Christ the King Lutheran Church, Nashua, N.H. This service will be in German but printed English translations will be available.

 

After the service we will have a German style Kaffee Klatch. Please bring Kuchen (cakes and cookies) to share. As a donation please bring a non-perishable food item for the Good Shepherd's Hands and Hearts Food Pantry. For more information or directions please call Grita or John at 603-528-3129 or call Erin in the Church office (603) 528-4078All are welcome.

Hartford Seminary

Registration Deadline: Dec. 1

 

WHY: As people of faith, we have a special call to care for the Earth by reducing our negative impact upon God's creation and to seek ways we can act as true stewards. As Lutherans we have unique resources to empower collaborative restoration.

 

WHO: For people who want to learn how to encourage congregations to integrate Care for Creation into the entire life of the church. Clergy and laity representatives (including young adults) are invited to apply ASAP to be part of this unique LRC cohort of region-wide facilitators. Open to people of all faiths, but participants are expected to share their new tools with Lutheran churches in their area.

Support sought for new musical group
Paul Carlson, the organist at Lutheran Church of the Redeemer in Woburn is seeking support for a new musical ensemble dedicated to the sacred cantatas of J.S Bach. This ensemble will present "Cantata Vespers" events in partnership with churches in the area. Learn more and help them get started by visiting their Kickstarter page.

Vice President for Mission Advancement
The Lutheran Theological Seminary at Philadelphia

The Vice President for Mission Advancement leads a dedicated multidisciplinary team charged with defining and achieving an ambitious and innovative results-based strategy for the Seminary's fundraising efforts and developing and maintaining strong relationships with Board members, alumni, constituents, and donors. Key responsibilities include overseeing the Seminary's annual appeal, major gift solicitation, and planned giving strategy as well as directing capital appeals. In addition, the VP for Mission Advancement will provide leadership to the Seminary's Foundation, work with the Board Finance Committee and VP for Administration and Finance to develop realistic budgets based on anticipated philanthropic revenue, represent the Seminary and President at key events, and participate collaboratively on the President's Senior Administrative Council that exercises primary responsibility for achieving the Seminary's mission to educate public leaders for a public church. This is a full-time staff appointment.
