Vital Worship Grants Program
The Calvin Institute of Christian Worship is offering a series of grants, funded by the Lilly Endowment, to support worship in congregations and communities throughout North America. According to the Institute's website, the program is "especially focused on projects that connect public worship to intergenerational faith formation and Christian discipleship, a theme that can unfold in many facets of worship from Bible reading to preaching to Baptism and Lord's Supper, intercessory prayer, congregational song, visual arts, and more."

Congregations are encouraged to submit collaborative grant proposals. For more information, including how to apply, click here to go to the Calvin Institute's grant page.

The I Have a Dream Fund, established by Margaret and John Payne, provides financial resources for those who long for an end to racism and an increase in understanding across cultural barriers.

The "I Have a Dream" Fund shall support initiatives developed by individuals or congregations of the New England Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America:
1) to teach about the many forms of racism that exist in human nature and society;
2) to deepen awareness of white privilege and the spiritual dimensions of racism;
3) to encourage public advocacy for racial justice and to work toward economic equality for people of color;
4) to support ministries for children and youth that create intentional cross-cultural programing that nurtures an environment of equality in shared experience;
5) to create adult cross-cultural opportunities for listening, learning and mutual ministry.
6) This fund shall provide financial support for new initiatives of anti-racism education and training, including long-term communities of support. It shall also support the development of initiatives that undercut racism by increasing cultural competency and encouraging the development of relationships that transcend racial barriers

This year we're honoring our past, celebrating our present, and looking forward to our future in Christ. Earlier this year, we collected supplies for LWR hygiene kits. We well exceeded our goal of 125 kits. Praise God! Please join us as we continue to celebrate this special anniversary into the fall."

Reminder

Did you know the Synod offers access to the GoToMeeting and FreeConferenceCall online meeting platforms, free of charge? We do! They can be a great tool to connect with folks when distance is a barrier, and all you need is a computer and a reliable internet connection!

If you're interested in using those tools, we'd like to remind you to please coordinate and reserve all meetings through the synod office - before scheduling them with your team or committee. To reserve time, email Marianne Uva at muva@nesynod.org.
