Meet your 2015 ELCA

Youth Gathering Synod Leaders!

We are excited to announce the two Gathering Synod Leaders for 2015.

Synod Gathering Coordinator

Pastor Tim Weisman

Pastor Tim Weisman

The Rev. Timothy Weisman has served as pastor of Zion Lutheran Church in Pittsfield, Massachusetts since September 2011. A tried-and-true mid-westerner, Tim comes from Indiana corn and basketball country. He moved east for graduate school, finishing the Master of Music (organ and church music) and Master of Divinity degrees at Yale University.

Tim served parishes in Vancouver, Washington and Chicago, Illinois before returning to the New England Synod. He is an active participant in the Pittsfield community, serving on various councils and advisory boards of the City of Pittsfield, the Barrington Stage Company, and Berkshire United Way; he teaches several students at Berkshire Music School; and he has accompanied concerts for several local choirs, including the Stockbridge Festival Chorus and the Berkshire Concert Choir.

 Synod Day Director

Pastor Heidi Johnson

Pastor Heidi Johnston

The Reverend Heidi Johnston has served as the pastor of Faith Lutheran Church in Quincy, MA since January of 2012. Born into a military family, Heidi's "Army Brat" upbringing included eight moves, nine schools before high school graduation, and even a few years in Germany. With a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Musical Theater from Syracuse University, Heidi went on to divinity school, first at the Lutheran Theological Seminary at Philadelphia, and then Union Theological Seminary in New York City where she earned the Master of Divinity degree.

Heidi served parishes in New York City and central Texas before being ordained in the New England Synod. She and her husband, Ben, live in Quincy with their new son, Oliver Charles (born June 2013). In addition to being a full-time mommy and pastor, Heidi is an avid advocate for natural home-birth, veganism, and liturgical cartwheeling!
