What is Ekklesia?
Ekklesia is a new newsletter from the New England Synod, which will be made available in print and via PDF download. The quarterly newsletter will go beyond the traditional church newsletters and bring a broader perspective, with profiles, columns and other features designed to make Ekklesia more than just a list of events, but a snapshot of life throughout the New England Synod.

Ekklesia will make its debut at Synod Assembly. Print copies will be available at the MassMutual Center, and a PDF will be posted for download on the Synod's website, NESynod.org, beginning on Friday, June 7. Check it out!

June 7-9, 2013

Mass Mutual Center, Springfield, Mass.

The annual Synod Assembly opens at 1 p.m. on Friday, June 7. From then until the very end of Sunday's Eucharist, the Synod will be streaming all of the weekend's main events for those unable to attend - including Friday night's featured discussion with "nones" (not nuns), who are people that identify as spiritual but don't affiliate with a particular religion.

To stream the Synod Assembly, click here (broadcast begins at 1 p.m. on Friday). For more on this year's assembly, check out our primer by clicking here

Is your congregation up to something special this summer? A youth mission trip? Planning a cool outdoor worship to beat the heat? We'd love to know about it, and to share it with the rest of the Synod. Send your stories and photos to Synod Communications Director Andy Merritt at amerritt@nesynod.org.

Host a summer intern

Seminarians from the Slovak Zion Synod in Central and Eastern Europe are looking for a summer internship in the USA. The seminarians speak English.

The congregation is asked to cover their airfare and room and board (seminarians usually stay with a parishioner, thus there is no additional costs.) Parishes can contact the Rev. Thomas Drobena at drobena@optonline.net.
