"Thanks, also, for your leadership within your synod," wrote Campaign Coordinator Jessica Nipp Hacker and Campaign Assistant Allison Beebe. "Our records show that the New England Synod has raised $132,498.79 for the ELCA Malaria Campaign as of March 1, 2013. This figure includes the total sum of gifts to the ELCA Malaria Campaign from your synod office, congregations of the synod and individual members of the synod."

LSS Director of Operations visits lawmakers
Living out God's call to welcome the stranger, Jozefina Lantz recently visited lawmakers on Capitol Hill with the message that economic security and personal responsibility start with strong families and citizenship, and that America would be foolish to rebuild its immigration system on any other bedrock.
"Coming to Capitol Hill with other faith and community leaders today is my way of giving back to the refugees who have enriched my life, family and community." said Lantz, Director of Operations at Lutheran Social Services - New England (LSS-NE), who made the Hill visits as part of a national leadership team organized by the 2013 Lutheran Immigration Leadership Summit. "As an active member of my community, and a staff member at LSS-NE, I have seen refugees from over 50 countries pass through our doors, local congregations, and my neighbors' homes, and I've learned that America's leadership on refugee protection not only saves lives, but adds meaning and richness to the community life of Worcester."
Forty Lutheran leaders are taking part in LILS, which provides an opportunity for Lutheran leaders to engage with lawmakers on Capitol Hill to advocate for the reform of our broken immigration system.
