At three different locations this fall, Bishop Hazelwood shared a series of practical ideas for helping congregations with their annual stewardship programs. In the next few weeks, we plan to get you an online version of the presentation. Maybe there will be ideas you can use for this year, or next. In the meantime, you can download a print version of the slides from the presentation, just click here. The video below describes some of the ministries of the New England Synod.
| What is our Synod |
Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Westborough, MA used The theme of "Blessed to be a blessing" after Genesis 12 and God's words to Abraham for their 2012 Stewardship emphasis.
Pastor Jeff Goodrich describes the program: "We took three weeks for it. On the first congregation members put up three sticky notes each (including the children) with a way they have been blessed on them. On the second week, we had people tell stories from the life of the congregation that fit that theme - we had some of our teenagers tell a little bit about the New Orleans Youth Gathering and weave it into the blessings theme.
Then on the third week, we had someone from our stewardship team report on what the "top 10" blessings were that people put on the sticky notes. He combined that with a more intentional ask for greater financial giving. Then the next week (which was this last Sunday) was stewardship Sunday with offering pledge cards." |
