Fiestas Patrias
Consejo advocates and clients participated in the Fiestas Patrias parade in South Park on September 15. Consejo provides mental health, chemical dependency and gang prevention services to South King County Latino youth at its South Park site.

Quinceañeras in South Park

On August 16, Consejo hosted a quinceañera for three young women. One of the fathers had this to say: | |
"Thank you for organizing this event. I am a single father of four children. For me it was impossible to make a party for my daughter's Quinceañera.
Another thing I want to say is thank you to Consejo, because they have changed my daughter. When she began at Consejo, she was very rebellious. She didn't care about anything.
My daughter is more open. . . and more helpful. And she changed a lot. Thank you for these things, because Consejo helped my family. . . my relationship with my daughter. And this thank you is with my heart. " | |
2nd Annual Consejo Staff Walkathon - Para Los Niños
On a sunny, hot September 7th, Consejo staff members walked from the Main Office to and around Seward Park and then enjoyed a picnic. Staff raised funds to benefit Consejo's youth. Employees Community Fund of  Boeing Puget Sound awards $34,630 to Consejo for new playgrounds and fence
In September, Consejo received a $34,630 grant to install new playground equipment and fence at its transitional housing facilities that serve domestic violence survivors and their children. At any given time, there are at least 60 children residing in Consejo's two transitional housing facilities.
Jessica Beck, Domestic Violence Manager, said, "The kids are very excited for the new playground. It is a wonderful enhancement to provide a safe place to play onsite for the kids while their mothers receive the help they need." The installation will be completed in the next couple months. García said, "We are so grateful to the Boeing employees for their generosity and continued support of Consejo's culturally competent services in the Puget Sound." |
