Elections Taking Place Thursday!
Elections for the 2016 AIA Central Oklahoma Board of Directors will take place on Thursday at the AIA Luncheon.  Our candidates are:

Jason Hukill PRESIDENT ELECT
JASON HUKILL, AIA of LWPB Architecture

Born and raised in South Oklahoma City, I attended high school in Moore, OK and attended college at the University of Oklahoma where I earned a Bachelors of Architecture. I worked as an intern for a small Norman firm while attending college and then moved to a larger firm in OKC, where I eventually attained licensure and have been fortunate to work on many project types and/or facility uses. I currently work as a project manager and project architect at LWPB Architecture in Oklahoma City. I am a LEED Accredited Professional, where I have put that knowledge to good use in making my design portfolio full of innovative and sustainable design solutions. I now reside in Edmond, OK with my wife and 12 year old son. We enjoy backyard BBQ's, home improvement projects, game night parties with friends and travel. Mountains before beach.....always!

VICE PRESIDENT
SETH CAVIN, AIA of Spur Design

I'm an Oklahoma native and a 2003 University of Oklahoma Architecture graduate.  After spending five years in Kansas City, my wife Erin and I moved back to Oklahoma.  In 2008, I struck out on my own and started Spur Design.  After seven fast-paced years, we now have three great kids, Elizabeth, Vivian and Hank and a great group of staff here in Oklahoma City and Kansas City.

SECRETARY
BETH PEARCY, AIA of Boynton Williams Associates

I was born in Houston, Texas and moved to Edmond, Oklahoma when I was 10. I have two younger sisters, Berit and Gracie. Gracie lives with my parents in Houston, Texas so I spend a lot of my free time traveling to see them. I graduated from the University of Oklahoma in 2012 and have been working for Boynton Williams & Associates since I graduates. I earned my architecture license in 2015. I currently serve as a director on the AIA Central Oklahoma Board and am a member of the Local Advocacy Committee.

TREASURER
MIKE PATTERSON, AIA of Beck Design

I am Mike Patterson, an architect at Beck Design and graduate of Oklahoma State University. I am seeking to serve my fourth term as AIACOC Treasurer. Serving on this Board has allowed me to have a direct impact in fostering relationships between architects and our community. I look forward to serving the AIACOC another year in this capacity.

DIRECTOR
MELODY STINSON, AIA of Rees Associates

I graduated from OU in 2002 and earned my Oklahoma architectural license in 2007. I am a Project Architect, Specifier and Construction Administrator with Rees Associates, Inc. in OKC, working on commercial projects throughout the US including healthcare, corporate offices, casinos, government and higher education. I am very involved with CSI, and have earned Certified Construction Specifier and Certified Construction Contract Administrator designations. I am the current Vice President for CSI OKC as well as the chapter's programs, foundation and membership chair. I also serve as a mentor for OU College of Architecture students.

IES November Meeting - November 16

The Oklahoma City Section of IES would like to invite AIA members to their November Meeting on Wednesday, November 16 from 11:30 am to 1:00 pm at Juniors, 2601 NW Expressway.  Pat Pilens from GE Lighting will be presenting on Light and Color (AIA CES #40107434).

Course description:
Our eyes can play tricks on us when it comes to color and how the eyes adapt.  Lighting designs are affected, positively and
negatively, by this.  Understanding basic vision science, and how the eye perceives colors of objects and the environment, are
important elements in design considerations.  Comprehending color metrics that are used with conventional and LED sources will allow for a more thoughtful technical and artistic approach to the design.

Attendees will learn:

--Understand the basics of vision science, and how we see color in our environment

--Describe current color metrics and terms such as: CRI and evolving color scales, Correlated Color Temperature, tristimulus values and trichromatic theory, metamerism, and the Munsell color system.

--Describe how lighting affects how we perceive the color of objects and the environment.

--Understand these effects when designing lighting solutions, using conventional and/or LED sources.

If you'd like to attend please contact Michelle Sackett, msackett@zrhd.com, or Sam Haberman, shaberman@alvine.com
