Walter Sedovic FAIA LEED has dedicated his career to sustainable preservation and design. His work and firm represent the vanguard of infusing heritage sites with green building approaches and ideologies, turning historic buildings into stellar performers - especially under current building and energy conservation codes - while maintaining authenticity and a visceral connection to each building's historic and cultural context, its reason for being. Each project provides some measure of enriched educational and stewardship, and strong community ties. Walter is a sought-after speaker nationally and internationally on the subject of sustainability and preservation and was the guest editor of the Association for Preservation Technology International special edition Bulletin on Sustainable Preservation. His firm has won virtually every national preservation award. Mr. Sedovic received his professional degree from Kansas University in Lawrence, and was selected as the U.S. representative for the Architectural Conservation program at the International Centre for Conservation in Rome, Italy (ICCROM). He holds multiple licenses and is NCARB-certified to practice in all 50 states.

The Future of the Profession: What's Ahead in the Heartland
 
Russell A. Davidson, FAIA
2016 AIA National President
 
Davidson is the current president of the American Institute of Architects. He is also president and managing partner at Kaeyer, Garment & Davidson Architects & Engineers PC, in Mount Kisco, N.Y., a 30-person architectural and engineering firm just north of New York City. He earned a BA from Union College in Schenectady, N.Y., where he became interested in passive solar design and was able to combine studio art, art history, philosophy and engineering courses into a pre-architecture liberal arts major. Russ has been active in AIA leadership for more than 15 years, beginning as a director of the AIA Westchester/Mid- Hudson board, and eventually serving as chapter president. He served in various officer capacities on the AIA New York State Board. State-wide issues that have been the focus of Russ' service include improving public project delivery and establishing reasonable guidelines for public approval and architectural review of projects
