Greetings! |
Do you have a favorite Christmas tradition? At our house, it's Christmas stockings. My four sisters and I collaborate on Mom's plus I stuff one for my boys, their spouses, and, of course, the Bobfather. It's the favorite part of Christmas for the BF, which he calls "getting those socks."
Whether you have socks or Santa on the roof or a special Dirty Santa in your family, we wish you a warm and very merry Christmas. And, Santa - could you PLEASE bring snow? |
Tip of the Month: What the Election Means |
Mary, Mary, quite contrary, how does your retirement grow?
With mutual funds and long-term gains and dividends in a well-balanced portfolio!
Last month's tip was a rundown on many of the scheduled changes we are anxiously considering. Will tax rates change? Can we find compromise in Congress? What if we DO tumble off the fiscal cliff? Regardless of your (or my) personal feelings, it's all irrelevant for the long-term investor. Why?

Recommended Resources - Best-Kept Secrets

BKS is a place to trade information about special finds we patronize and love. Just the other day, I found a jewel: the folksy, Amish-run Meadow View Market off Highway 45 (between Mayfield and Paducah behind Kubota), where you'll find spices, stocking goodies, soup mixes and much more. Pre-order sandwich combo's on fresh homemade bread from their tasty menu at 270-856-4876. If you need something crafty but that's not your gig, our in-house artist, Amy Glover, now has a Facebook page to showcase her talents. Message Amy on her Facebook page - and be sure to hit "Like" while you're there! Email your BKS to us and if we feature it here, you'll win a $10 WalMart gift card along with recognition in our newsletter. Fame and fortune, what a Christmas gift!

(Almost) Famous Recipes of the Month: A Christmas Two-fer |
Hot Spiced Christmas Tea was a popular winter beverage when I was in high school and as a young mom. In fact, facing winter without having a jar at the ready was unthinkable. But I haven't heard of anyone having a cup of this for years and years, so maybe it's time for a revival.
This easy, EASY mix keeps for months and, as a two-fer, makes a great Christmas gift for friends and co-workers. Just pour the dry mix into a nice little jar tied with a pretty little bow and tagged with your name and instructions. But be forewarned: you may be tempted to ditch work on cold, sleety days and snuggle up in front of the fireplace with a mug of Hot Spiced Christmas Tea! read more... Top of page |

In the midst of Christmas jolliness, steel yourselves to hear, ad-nauseum, predictions for the upcoming fiscal cliff and the resulting End Of The World (quick, somebody, let God know He can mark that off of HIS to-do list). In the spirit of optimism Brian Wesbury's piece should put a little jingle in your bells.
OK, you know the drill: it's CONTEST TIME! Our video has the answer to this month's contest question: "What is MY kind of Black Friday?" Be the first person to email us or post the right answer on FACEBOOK to get our Christmas gift to you: a $25 gift certificate from Wal-Mart!!!
Holly Jolly Hugs to you!
