What's In Your Christmas Stocking?
If you are hoping for an iPad, a Nook, a Kindle or other e-reader as a present this year, then you will want to check out our Digital Media Catalog. You will find lots of e-books that you can check out for free, for both you and your children. There is a customizable help section in the top left corner of the page if you need assistance getting started.
Need help learning to use your device? Reference Librarian Margaret Davis offers a monthly class in the Barbara Bush Library Friends computer lab on the second floor of the library geared to understanding the basics. Next sessions are on Tuesday Dec. 11 and Tuesday Jan. 8 at 11:00am. Call the library, or go to the Events calendar to register.

 Give Yourself a Present!
You can sign up to receive free e-mail newsletters about your favorite type of books! The Harris County Public Library subscribes to Next Reads, a service which alerts you to the newest titles, complete with brief descriptions and links direct to the catalog so that you can make requests. Is your mailbox already too full? Just bookmark the website and read the newsletters online whenever you want. [The "Next Reads" service replaces the "Bookletters" service to which the library subscribed previously, so you may notice some minor changes in content and appearance.]

Thank you for your support!!
Once again, the ladies from the Memorial Northwest Ladybugs Garden Club have helped to beautify the library during the holidays with their gift of lovely poinsettias. Thanks so much for sharing your love of plants with the community.
Members of the San Jacinto Chapter of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution have donated $200 to purchase yarn for the Knowledge Exchange knitting and crocheting group that meets at the library every Friday afternoon at 2:30pm. This group works on many worthy projects, including making lap quilts for the patients at the Houston Veterans Hospital.
