Knowledge Exchange, the knitting, crocheting, and conversation group meets on Fridays all year.
The group meets in the Earl Elliott Meeting room from 2:30-4:30 PM.
Bring your own projects to work on or use our yarn to make lap blankets for the V.A. hospital or Chemo Caps for the patients at M.D. Anderson.
Please bring your own needles or crochet hook.

Emery Crain
Designer-Artist
The art of Emery Crain will be on display in the Art Alcove on the second floor of the library through December.
Mr. Crain graduated from Central Missouri State university with a Bachelor of Science degree in Interior Design. He moved to Texas five years ago and pick up painting again last year.
Stop in and see his beautiful paintings.

a holiday memory
or
choose a topic of your own to write about.
If you aren't sure where to begin, just start writing and you may end up with a wonderful reflection. No right or wrong way. Or jot down ideas and write from those.

10th Annual
Community Open House
Saturday

The Barbara Bush Library Friends will sponsor the 10th Annual Community Open House at the library on Saturday, December 1 from 2:00-4:00 PM in the Earl Elliott Meeting Room.
The refreshments will be provided by the Barbara Bush Library Friends with the support of H.E.B., Kroger, Bullrito's and The Rockfish Grill.
Musical entertainment in the Earl Elliott Room will be provided by Strack Orchestra, Doerre Orchestra, teh Happy Fiddlers from Symphony North Houston, and a quartet from Christian Youth Theatre.
There will be a special celebration for children with holiday movies and a "make and take" craft in the Robin Bush Room.
Come and share the great food, entertainment and holiday decorations with the library staff, volunteers, and other members of the community.

Workforce Solutions Job Search Seminars

Workforce Solutions will bring their job search seminars back to the library this fall. They offer several programs for job seekers, which include: making a job search plan, writing a resume, and classes on how to do well at the job interview. Seminars are held on the first and third Thursdays at 1:30.

Senior Game Morning
Every Wednesday from 10:00-12:00
The Senior Game Morning will meet every Wednesday from 10:00-noon in the Robin Bush Activity Room in the back of the Children's area.
Come and play dominos (traditional and chicken foot), cards, Rummikub, or whatever you want to bring, with others in the community. Meet new friends or bring a friend. Light refreshments will be served. |

Free Computer Classes at the Library
Dave Smith, computer instructor, will be teaching seven different computer classes at the library in December. The classes are Computer Basics, Introduction to the Internet, Email, MS Word, MS Excel, PowerPoint and Publisher.
Each class meets for one
2-hour session. As class size is limited to 12 people, pre-registration is required. Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis. Due to high demand, and for fairness to all, please register for only one class project at a time within the same course.
Please call the library at 281-376-4610 for more information and to register for a class. You can also register online at the HCPL website. Please call 24 hours in advance if it is necessary to cancel a class. Registration opens 30 days prior to the class.

Evening Book Club - Tuesday

December 11 @ 7:00 PM - The Evening Book Club will have a general book discussion and book exchange.
"Bring a lightly used book in a gift bag that you would like to share with a friend."
The book club meets on the second Tuesday of each month. All are welcome. Bring a friend.
Suggestions for 2013 are welcome. We will also discuss your favorite books of 2012 and what is coming in 2013.

The meeting will be held in the Earl Elliott Room on Thursday, and in the WCR Conference Room on Friday. If you wish, bring a wrapped book to exchange that you have read and enjoyed, but that has not been done in the afternoon book club.

Great Books Discussion

The Great Books Discussion Group will meet in the WCR Conference Room on Monday,December 17 from 7:00-8:45 PM. The Group meets on the third Monday of each month.
Discussion guides are available from Penguin through the Great Books store as downloadable PDF's, as well as in e-book ePub format.
The Pen and Paintbrush Book Club will meet at the Pearl Fincher Museum at 1:30pm on Tuesday, December 11, to discuss common themes between "Woman Hollering Creek" by Sandra Cisneros and the current museum exhibits. Learn how to use the Digital Media Catalog and OneClickDigital (only audio books) to download e-books and e-audio to your mobile devices.
