Happy New Year to all of our fantastic clients! We're looking forward to another blockbuster year at UG, and to helping you choose the perfect beverages for every occasion.  As always, January is a bit of a slower month here at UG, but with the Pats in the playoffs, you can expect a lot of great beer tastings and excitement as we head toward the Superbowl. A partial listing of tastings is below, but please keep an eye on the website for any updates and changes.

And make sure to snag one of the few remaining tickets for our Escape to Mexico night on January 13th. It's going to be one fun fiesta!

Happy New Year!

TJ and Hadley Douglas, and the staff of The Urban Grape

Spotlight Wine: 2011 Mollydooker Blue Eyed Boy Shiraz (McLaren Valley, Australia)

mollydooker

There are a million reasons to love the husband and wife team behind Molly Dooker. Fun-loving, risk-taking, family-oriented and down right talented, they have won the title of Australian Winemakers of the year and Robert Parker can't hand out enough accolades. They've produced more Parker-rated 94 point wines than any other wine maker in the world, and have received 99 points time and again as well.

Originally winemakers at their famliy's Marquis Phillips vineyard, their Mollydooker wines are nuanced and palate-friendly. They are fundamentally Australian in every way, except that Mollydooker has stayed small and family-run unlike other Australian producers that chose instead to mass-produce.

Sparky Marquis, the husband part of this fantastic duo, calls the 2011 Blue Eyed Boy Shiraz, "A flavour explosion in the mouth. Cream, spice, multi-layered, rich while still fresh with aromatic fruit." It has flavors of black cherry and chocolate as well. It's a big, bold, beautiful Shiraz that is simply perfect for curling up by the fire and getting warm from the inside. This is a great price on the Mollydooker - enjoy!
