Not a new mom, mind you. Last year in April, our new family ventured out of our den for the first time, with me in the midst of an extended fast.
We made the trek to the sea ice, where I couldn't wait to sink my teeth into some fat, juicy seals! The journey was long and dangerous, but we had to get to the ice; it's the only way we can reach our primary food source.
But arctic sea ice is on the decline, and that means sometimes we have to wait a
really long time for our meals--which is why Polar Bears International is so important. Their goal is to save my family and others by saving our sea ice habitat. Our friends at PBI know the only way to save us is to inspire enough greenhouse gas reduction to reverse the impacts of global warming. They've studied us for years to learn exactly how a warming planet and melting ice are affecting us: our body stature, our reproduction rates, and how many of us are left.
And they need your help as much as I do. Your donation will allow PBI to continue not only their critical research projects, but also their education and action programs--programs that give me hope for polar bears across the Arctic!
Bear hugs,
Grateful Mom
P.S. You can also help PBI plan their income by pledging to a monthly donation!
