Japan tour, summer festivals, new recordings & more...
ON TOUR THIS SPRING
April, May and June mark significant concerts for the Pacifica Quartet as they make appearances in Chicago, New York and Japan. On April 24 they bring their remarkable 17-year tenure as the first ever Don Michael Randel Ensemble-in-Residence with the University of Chicago to a close. The final concert features works by Mozart, Shostakovich and Beethoven. Later in the spring, the Pacifica heads to Japan for a highly anticipated Shostakovich cycle at Yokohama's Salvia Hall.

SUMMER FESTIVALS
The Pacifica Quartet begins its summer season with a week-long educational residency at the Madeline Island Music Camp in Wisconsin where they will be providing daily coachings and master classes for thirty-two gifted young musicians. Then in July, the Pacifica travels to New York's Caramoor Festival for a concert of two Beethoven Quartets as well as Shulamit Ran's Glitter, Doom, Shards, Memory.  The ensemble will also be featured at the Santa Fe Chamber Music Festival in five concerts that showcase their depth of repertoire in performances of works by Ran, Beethoven, Bridge, Dvorák, Salonen and Mendelssohn. The Quartet heads to the Aspen Music Festivain August, and the summer ends with a bang as they perform two complete Beethoven Cycles at Napa's Music in the Vineyards Festival and the Ravinia Festival in Illinois.

NEW RECORDINGS

The 2015-16 season marked the launch of the Pacifica Quartet's first release on the Hyperion label featuring the music of composer Leo Ornstein with Marc-Andre Hamelin.

Next up: a recording of Schumann's String Quartet No. 1 and Brahms' Piano Quintet in F minor with longtime friend, colleague and mentor, Menahem Pressler (bottom right). The CD will be released in 2017 on Cedille Records.
