East Ohio District Church of the Nazarene
August 28, 2015
 OUR DISTRICT PASTOR

I've been around East Ohio for a little over a month now. I thought it might be nice to give you an update on how things are going and what is happening around the district.
  • We have a lot of challenges with many open churches. But I am very encouraged as I have talked with churches and pastors about what God is doing behind the scenes! I could fill this article up with stories about how God is moving, preparing, shaping, and fulfilling. My faith has been strengthened over this past month as I have witnessed the hands of God at work. My biggest challenge isn't the open churches, but it's the time constraints of trying to keep up with all God is trying to accomplish!
  • Working with churches and pastors, my hope is to do the right thing the right way. I don't want to stick band-aids on things to accomplish quick fixes. I met with a church board last Sunday and told them, "I have one agenda. Let's find out what God's will is for your church, pray through on that, and then let's do it!"
  • We have great people and churches on our District! I have been blessed meeting people and visiting churches and I always come away thinking, "What a great group!" The common threads I see in people are loving God, loving one another, loving their churches and wanting to reach the lost. Personally, I think God smiles and is pleased at this!
  • Beth Nichols holds us together as a district! All of you know this, but Beth works tirelessly to organize us and she does it all with a wonderful attitude. Just last night she was here at the office until after 8pm taking care of some situations. If you see her or talk to her, make sure you share your appreciation.
  • Speaking of Beth, she is making all appointments and meetings. It helps us all that she is keeping things organized. If you need to talk to me please call or email Beth and she can take care of you. That way I don't frustrate you by making appointments on top of other appointments.
  • On the personal side, Brad is 2 weeks into boot camp for the Air Force, Rachel is back at college, and house hunting is.....going. Many have asked where we are looking for a home. We've looked in the Canton and North Canton area, Louisville, Uniontown, Green, Massillon-in other words, all over! In the meantime, I am staying at a cottage at our campgrounds, Canaan Acres. Janet is staying in Napoleon at our home until it sells.
  • Thanks for praying for me and my family. It means a lot to me when you share that you pray and it truly makes a difference. Jesus taught us, "Apart from me you can do nothing." I know that's true and want to do everything in the power of the Spirit.
I thank the Lord for all of you and what you do in the name of Christ. Don't grow weary in doing good because we will reap a harvest for His Kingdom!

God Bless,
Dave Lutz
