Dear Plumstead Park and Recreation Friends -
Warm Winter Wishes to All! We wanted to take a moment and give everyone an little update and a "look ahead" as to what we have planned in the next few months.
We welcomed Jim Knepp to our Committee last month! Jim replaces our old friend Mike Snyder who remains a lifetime friend of our committee. Mike brought a sense of humor along with a positive, can-do attitude! We will miss Mike at our regular meetings, but look forward to seeing him at our many events!
Please continue reading to see what we've been up to! Also , special note from our friends from the Environmental Advisory Council (EAC) of Plumstead.
Sincerely,
Your Park and Rec Commission |

Parks: For Enjoying, NOT Destroying
Get outdoors and enjoy what is yours! Pack a picnic...Go fishing...Play baseball...Go ice-skating...Swing on a playground...Enjoy a scenic walk on a nature trail...

Plumstead Township maintains four public parks for your enjoyment:
- Allohaken Park (4731 Landisville Road at Bergstrom Road)
- Owls Nest Park (5367 Silo Hill Road)
- Jennifer Schweitzer Park (5651 Potters Lane)
- Landis Park (4060 Gregory Drive)
While you are encouraged to take advantage of the parks, please do not abuse them by leaving litter behind. Our parks have no garbage cans, so we are expected to leave parks without a trace of our visit. The strict carry in / carry out policy means leaving with all our trash, including food scraps, food packaging, drink containers and dog waste. Please report any maintenance concerns (e.g., damaged equipment) to Plumstead Township Public Works at 215-766-0189, and report any emergencies to the police by calling 911.
The township will do its s part to provide safe, well-maintained open space for residents to enjoy, but we need to do our part to ensure that our parks stay clean.
For more information about parks and park policies, please visit this website: http://www.plumstead.org/parks.html or call public works at 215-766-0189. |

Community Tree Planting Event | |
APRIL 11, 2013
Informational Planning Meeting for the 1st Annual Winter Festival in Plumstead Township
The Plumstead Park & Rec Committee is planning a NEW EVENT! We are actively seeking community and business participation!
The committee is moving the tree lighting to a new park facility on Rt. 611 and will invite local vendors and businesses to be a part of the event. Think Winter Festival in Plumstead!
An informational meeting is planned for Thursday April 11 at the Township Building. We will present our ideas and ask for volunteers to sign up to head committees at that time. We will host the presentation two separate times on April 11. The first session will be at 10:00 AM, second presentation will be at 6:30 PM.
The information sessions will be for one hour and will present the same information.
Our vision is to have our community come together to celebrate the season, learn about our local business partners, make crafts, hear singing groups, watch the tree be lit, and bring Santa to our workshop for the kids. The Plumstead Holiday Winter Festival we hope will become a favorite family tradition, and you can be a part of its creation! Come learn and be part of the planning.
or call the Plumstead Township building and give your name. We hope to see you there!
