 Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony

 

The 13th Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony will be held on Saturday, December 8th, 5pm at the Plumstead Township Building.  

 

Our fantastic Plumstead Volunteer Fire Department will provide transportation for our guests of honor,  Mr. and Mrs. Claus.  Upon their arrival, we'll pick a lucky person to help Santa flip the switch to light our tree!

 

Come on out with your family and friends!  Enjoy some music, balloon crafts, hot cocoa, and delicious treats! Visit with Santa!  Don't miss your photo opportunity!  Be sure to bring your camera!

 

The Plumstead Police Department, our Volunteer Fire Department and the Plumstead Park and Rec. committee happily put together this event at no charge to the community.  Thanks go our to all of our kind volunteers and business owners who support this fun and friendly event!

Coming Soon!  A New Township Park!

 

A new Park for Plumstead Township!  Carriage Hill Park will be coming online in 2013!  We have an aggressive schedule to get our newest park up and running by July of 2013.

   

As our local sports associations and our community has grown and our township has answered the call!  It's apparent that the need for active recreation facilities with lights will be included to accommodate the needs.

 

Carriage Hill Park will be the home of our active recreation facility and will have lights. IT has been many years of planning with local developer and the Plumstead Supervisors.  Plumstead residents will reap the benefit of good planning and looking towards the future.

 

    Highlights of the park facilities include:

 

The 48 acres Located between 611 and Gordon road with entrance on Gordon road, Reference point directly across from 611 Self Storage

2- Soccer Fields

1-75'/90' Baseball field with outfield fence

1-Shared 90' Baseball field and All-purpose field

Plans 2-Bullpens

1-Batting Cage

3-Basketball Courts

1-3200sq' Community building with public restrooms

1-25'x50' Pavilion

1-20'x40' Pavilion

Extensive walking trails around all athletic fields

196 paved parking spots

Approx. 24 acres of wooded parkland

 

More Details:

·        The sports fields have been planted and mowed for four years allowing time for fields to mature while planning and development followed behind.

·        A timeline has been given for improvements at the Plumstead Supervisors August meeting so we are getting excited about this park come online after a long time coming.

·        The proposed Dates:

o   Feb, 2013 parking lot lights will be installed

o   May, 2013 parking lot will be paved

o   July, 2013 fields will be ready for use

 

Park Name:

Carriage Hill Park is the temporary name the name for the park will be selected in the future. Please send to Park and Recreation Committee through the township office or email at info@plumsteadparkandrec.org any suggestion for the name of the park.

In response to the 2010 Plumstead Township residential survey results it is clear to the members of the Park and Recreation committee that Walking Trails and Biking Trails were very high on the priority list for Plumstead residents. Walking Trails were requested 3 ½ to 1 over almost every other activity and Biking trails were requested 2 ½ to 1 . The Park and Recreation committee is aligned with the community and would like to move forward with the formulation of a network of Walking and Biking trails throughout our community. Some of our initial goals are to link our neighborhoods together, provide walking and biking access to our parks, access our village centers, and create network of safe corridors the residents of Plumstead to get outside and enjoy "Beautiful Plumstead".

 

Next we need your help we are looking for volunteers preferably from the different developments and areas all around Plumstead. If you are connected into the thoughts of your neighbors that is even better we want to take in consideration a well-rounded view of the issues, ideas and keep moving forward.  The Plumstead Township Supervisors depend on the Park and Recreation committee and the community to give them the feedback needed to understand the needs of the community. We welcome anyone interested in this topic to attend our Park and Recreation committee meetings held on the 4th Tuesday of every month where we will be appointing a subcommittee to carry this very important task forward.
