falling_leaves.jpgSpring is in full swing and summer is just around the corner! CAN'T AFFORD NEEDED REPAIRS TO YOUR HOME? SEE IF YOU QUALIFY FOR THE OWNER OCCUPIED REHABILITATION PROGRAM

The Owner Occupied Rehabilitation Program assists low- and moderate-income Virginia Beach homeowners with needed repairs to their homes. Qualified households receive a deferred, low-interest loan to cover the cost of repairs such as:
  • Roof repair or replacement
  • Siding repair or replacement
  • Heating/air conditioning system repair or replacement
  • Plumbing line repair or replacement
  • And more!
The loan has a simple 1% annual interest rate and program participants would not have to pay it back for 20 years! Income and other eligibility requirements apply.

The program is funded by Virginia Beach Housing & Neighborhood Preservation and is operated by the department's nonprofit partner, Virginia Beach Community Development Corporation (VBCDC).

DONATION METERS OFFER ADDITIONAL OPTION TO HELP THE HOMELESS

Have you spotted red
parking meters
along the boardwalk at the
Oceanfront?

These meters are part of the "Power of Change" Donation Meter Program, which is designed to help reduce panhandling in the resort area but still provide an option for those who want to donate to people experiencing homelessness. By using the meters, citizens and visitors can have peace of mind their donations are going to a good cause.

HOUSING RESOURCE CENTER UPDATE

On May 12, the City Council adopted the budget for the coming year, which included the construction funding and final financing package for the Housing Resource Center at 104 N. Witchduck Road.

The Housing Resource Center is part of our community's plan to do a better job of preventing and ending homelessness in Virginia Beach.
