Virginia Beach residents who are victims of graffiti on their property (which is visible from the public right-of-way) can have it removed for free through Code Enforcement's Graffiti Abatement Program

To register a complaint of graffiti on your property, complete the "Report a Problem with Graffiti" form online or contact Code Enforcement at (757) 385-4421

After confirming the complaint and receiving a signed waiver from the property owner, Code Enforcement will arrange for the Sheriff's Office
Community Work Force to remove the graffiti by power washing or painting over the defacement.

The quick removal of graffiti plays an important role in preventing defacements throughout the city and reduces the likelihood of reoccurrences in the same location.

Housing Choice Voucher Landlords: New Housing Assistance Payment Schedule in Effect
Housing & Neighborhood Preservation appreciates your ongoing participation in the Housing Choice Voucher Program (HCV) -- an important program that provides decent, safe and sanitary affordable housing opportunities to nearly 2,000 households in Virginia Beach. We are committed to providing you with timely and effective payments.

In order to comply with a mandatory change in accounting requirements, we must change the dates on which checks are issued. Now, all rental subsidy checks will be dated on or after the first of each month. This change is necessary to comply with HUD cash management procedures and no late fees will be paid as a result of this change. In accordance with established city payment procedures, checks will be issued accordingly: New Schedule

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and we thank you for being valued participants in the Housing Choice Voucher Program. Please contact Art Waller at (757) 385-5745 if you have any questions or concerns.

On June 28, Habitat for Humanity of South Hampton Roads (Habitat SHR) held a Golden Hammer Ceremony to celebrate the beginning of its Kenley Commons project. It will also be the site of Habitat SHR's first-ever Veterans Build.

During the ceremony, the future homebuyer families were invited to drive their first nail into the header that will become the entryway to their home. Guests and project supporters offered well wishes to the families by signing the headers.

Housing & Neighborhood Preservation provided $168,760 to help fund the site-work of the development. Kenley Commons is expected to be completed during fall 2014 near Bonney Road in Virginia Beach.
