Village to Compete in National Water Conservation Contest

Mayor Saverino is enlisting the participation of the Village's 11,000 water customers to actively compete in the National Mayor's Water Conservation Challenge hosted by the Wyland Foundation. From April 1st - 30th, water customers in contest communities will be asked to make an online water conservation pledge at www.mywaterpledge.com that will incorporate measures  (indoor use) (outdoor use) to help reduce daily water consumption in your home, apartment unit, business, industry, school, government agency or office complex. At the end of the 30-day competition, the city with the highest percentage of water customers who make pledges will be eligible to win tens of thousands of dollars in prizes. If every Village water customer reduced their April water consumption by just 2%, the Village would save 1.8 million gallons of water. The key

to the competition is to make your pledge early so you have the entire month to implement your conservation plan. The contest site will keep track of the daily progress of competing communities all throughout April. So come April 1st, its game on for our water customers to show the nation the Can Do Carol Stream spirit in action when challenged to save money and energy, reduce water system delivery costs and preserve every drop of our limited drinking water resources.
