Few Openings Remain for the Citizen Police Academy

An 11-week Citizen Police Academy will kick off on Thursday, January 28th and continue consecutive Thursday evenings thru April 7th. Residents 18 years and older who would like to learn more about the critical operations of the Village's Police Department are encouraged to register by Monday, January 18th.    Academy sessions will begin at 6:30 pm in the lower level training room of the Carol Stream Municipal Center located at 500 N. Holiday Refuse Collection News

Flood Brothers Disposal Co. will collect Christmas trees,
wreaths and boughs free of charge 
during the first 2 collection weeks into the new year --January 2nd - 15th. Homeowners are required to first remove ornaments, garland, lights, hooks, ribbons or nails from the tree and wreath before placing it out at your curb.
 
New Years Day is a REFUSE HOLIDAY and residents in the Friday service area will have their refuse, recycling and holiday greenery picked up on Saturday, January 2nd.
In 2016, Resolve to Subscribe to Smart911

With 2016 drawing near, the Village encourages residents to 'resolve to be safe' in the new year by subscribing to Smart911. This free, confidential public safety offering that allows an individual or head of household create a profile that is activated by an emergency dispatcher when a call to 911 is made. Your secure and encrypted safety profile includes critical household information about family members, your home as well as your pets and vehicles. This is a powerful tool especially when first responders need to search for a missing child, assist an unresponsive caller who is unable to speak due to a medical condition, or trapped in a house fire when first responders need to locate and account for a family member(s), a pet(s) and/or essential documents.

School District 93 to Host Pre-School Registration

Community Consolidated School District 93 will hold Pre-School Registration for the 2016-17 school year on Monday, January 11th at 6:00 PM at the District's Early Childhood Center in Bloomingdale. To be eligible to register, you must have children who will be 3  or 4 years old by September 1, 2016. Parents of prospective students need to bring with them to the preschool registration event the following:

1.) proof of residency (for in-

     district tuition rate)

2.) a photo ID

3.) the child(s) original birth

     certificate

 

Parents attending the registration event will learn about District's preschool curriculum, staff, events, and tuition. A question and answer session will be held and staffed with translators for those whose primary language is Spanish, Gujarati/Urdu or Polish. 

Holiday Lights Recycling Resumes

Residents and businesses can recycle their broken holiday
lights strands that include mini-Italian, traditional bulb, LED and rope lights as well as frayed extension cords at any 1 of the following locations thru Friday, January 29th:

Consider a 2016 Summer Concert Series Sponsorship

The Village is soliciting corporate sponsorships for its upcoming summer concert season scheduled to kick off on Thursday, June 9th. There are 3 affordable sponsorship levels that offer companies a full summer season of community outreach as well as consumer product and service promotional opportunities to the 750+ concert audience that regularly attend our weekly Thursday evening summer concerts. In exchange for your support, companies receive corporate recognition and attribution across a number of communication and promotional media that includes broadcast, digital web, social media, traditional print to name a few. Companies interested in a summer concert sponsorship package are encouraged to contact Chris Oakley by phone at (630) 871-6250 or at coakley@carolstream.org

Recycle Your Used Electronics from January 4th - 29th

Stream Park District, in partnership with Flood Brothers Disposal Co. will collect old, used, unwanted electronics from Carol Stream residents all throughout the month of January. A dedicated collection dumpster will be located in the northeast corner of the parking lot of the Simkus Recreation Center  at 849 Lies Rd. Electronics are prohibited from being placed at the curb for residential franchise collection and disposal and to this end, banned from all Illinois Landfills.

2016 Dog Licensing Begins Monday, January 4th

Current dog licenses expire on Thursday, December 31st. Beginning, Monday, January 4th, the Village Receptionist will begin registering dogs for a 2016 license tag.  Village code requires pet owners to have their dog(s) licensed by both the Village and the DuPage County Animal Control Dept. once they reach 6 months of age. Documentation of rabies inoculation must be presented to the Village Receptionist when applying for a 2016 tag. A $3 license fee is charged for male and spayed female dogs while a $5 license fee is charged for unspayed females.
