NEW Lawn Sprinkling Regulation IN EFFECT

The Illinois Department of Natural Resources, the agency which permits the allocation of Lake Michigan water requires DuPage Water Commission (DWC) communities to prohibit the watering of lawns 7 days a week between the hours of  10 AM - 4 PM. This newly adopted water conservation measure went into effect with its recent passage and   remains in effect year round. Because evaporation  (water loss) during a growing season is greatest during this 6-hour period, the Village Board adopted this required lawn sprinkling restriction to promote water conservation community-wide. A summary of the Village's current lawn sprinkling restrictions are as follows:

ODD-EVEN CALENDAR DAY: Odd number addresses (e.g. 793 Thunderbird Trl.) can water on odd-number calendar days (e.g. May 23rd) while even number addresses (e.g. 290 Arrowhead Trl.)  can water on even-number calendar days (e.g. June 2nd.

HOURLY: On calendar days when a water customer is allowed to water their lawn, they can only do so BEFORE   10 AM and/or AFTER 4 PM.

CERT Place 2nd in Prairie State Challenge

On Saturday, October 3rd, Community Emergency Response Teams from the Chicago-metro area squared off in the 6th Annual Prairie State Challenge competition held at the Homeland Security Building on the campus of the College of DuPage. This day-long competition tested each team's skill level in various challenge exercises that included Team Building, Triage/1st Aid, Victim Transport, Search & Rescue, Fire Suppression and Utility Safety, Disaster Psychology and Incident Documentation to name a few. Officer Tom Eby helped prepare our squad for this year's competition and along with Commander Tom Miller skillfully coached our team throughout the event. Our team's average score across the 10 skill challenges was 90.6 out of 100 possible points. In addition, our team scored 90% or better in 7 of the 10 skill challenges and exceeded the average team score in 9 of the 10 challenges. At the close of the competition, our CERT Squad placed 2nd out of 8 teams

Raking Leaves into the Street is Prohibited

Village Code prohibits residents from causing obstructions to the Village's storm drainage system. Storm sewer inlets clogged by leaves will cause localized street and property flooding in a heavy storm event. Violators are subject to ticketing for each separate offense. Residents are asked to regularly rake or vacuum up leaves from along the curbline in front of their home to prevent the conditions for localized flooding from occurring.

Parade Committee Hosts Dine In Fundraiser
