  Sec. of State to Suspend Mailing of License Plate RENEWAL NOTICES

Effective immediately, the Illinois Secretary of State has suspended the mailing out of vehicle registration renewal notices to Illinois motorists. The ongoing budget stalemate limits the ability of Jesse White's office to mail out license plates, vehicle titles and vehicle registration
 renewal stickers.  Suspending the mailing of vehicle registration
renewal notices will allow the office to save $450,000/month and better manage its dwindling postage expenses during the ongoing budget impasse.

Motor Vehicle owners whose registration will soon expire are advised to visit CYBER DRIVE ILLINOIS
 to register to receive a renewal notice by e-mail. Upon registering, a vehicle owner will be issued a pin number needed to renew their sticker online. Otherwise, vehicle owners must renew their sticker in person at a Sec. of State facility.

OFFICIAL Trick or' Treat Hours Set

The official trick or treating hours for this Halloween are on SATURDAY, OCTOBER 31st from 3 - 7 PM.  To ensure you and your child(ren) enjoy a safe candy walk, please observe the following safety tips:

Chaperones should always keep children under their care in sight and under control.  If chaperoning after dusk, bring with you a working flashlight;

Make sure your child's costume fits, is flame retardant, has reflective markings;

Always cross streets at the intersection's crosswalk.  If no sidewalk exists, walk on the parkway adjacent to the street;

When going from house to house, stay on the sidewalk and DO NOT cut across lawns, driveways or private property;

When trick or treating at night, never visit an unlit home or trick ior treat in an unfamiliar neighborhood;

Do not approach a vehicle (occupied or unoccupied),  approach  or a dog or go near porch decorations that have a live flame (candle);

Upon arriving at a home, stay on the porch (stoop), never enter a home even if invited and be courteous and say thank you.

Do not eat any of the treats you gather until they have been inspected at home and approved by your parents for eating.  Be especially careful with homemade treats.  When in Doubt, Throw It Out!

CLICK for FLYER
The Village is hosting a FREE Pumpkin Recycling event on Saturday, November 7th from 9 AM - Noon at the Ferraro Town Center. Residents and businesses in town are encouraged to drop off their post-Halloween pumpkins so they can be diverted from the waste stream and processed as organic waste and used in the manufacture of commercial-grade compost products. The Village is coordinating the event, Flood Brothers will collect, store and transport the pumpkins while Green Organics in Kendall County will accept and process the pumpkins. Because pumpkins are 90% water they have a valuable reuse as a prime ingredient in the production of soil amendments used in both commercial and residential landscape applications.
